What is a Wild Card SSL certificate?

A Wildcard SSL (or generic SSL) secures a main domain and all its subdomains in a single license. For example, for example.com, it automatically protects www.example.com, blog.example.com, shop.example.com, etc. It is the most cost-effective solution if you manage multiple subdomains.
